Starting out as a roadie in the late 70’s for BOSTON BAND / LA PESTE then a D.J. on several BOSTON RADIO STATIONS thru the earl;y 80’s & then opened his first store in HARVARD SQUARE in the late 80’s then in HOLLYWOOD in the early 90’s & SAN DIEGO 10 Years to the day in MARCH . Curtis & Outlets singer Dave Barton stumbled upon a vacant loft on the pacific ocean BASED ON THE ADDRESS  which is ( 706 Pismo Ct ) THE SAME ADDRESS as SUN RECORDS ( 706 Union St ) the label set up shop on the ocean & opened 4 stores since then in SAN DIEGO .The store & mail order company  it buys sells all forms of music & most recently VINTAGE STEREO SYSTEMS & is soon to open a lounge by 2015  within the RECORD STORE Starting out as a store that carries hardcore punk oi, power pop, ska, indie rock, psychedelic. but has recently moved into JAZZ / BLUES / HOP HOP / AMBIENT mostly vinyl . The Label in 2015 is focusing on releasing some of it’s CLASSIC TITLES on VINYL from The MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES /  LEMONHEADS / SLAPSHOT / NEGATIVE FX  / SLAUGHTYER & THE DOGS & NEGATIVE APROACH to name a few

BRIEF MOMENT IN HISTORY 1984 to 1993… Taang! Records signed Boston-area bands such as Gang Green, Last Rights, Negative FX, Stranglehold, Last Stand, and Kilslug. The label’s first full-length release was Negative FX’s self-titled album, which was recorded in 1982. The first of six retail Taang! outlets was established at Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

In 1986, Taang! Released five vinyl titles: Burning in Water by Moving Targets, Back on the Map by Slapshot, Another Wasted Night by Gang Green, the 7-inch Mine Caroline by The Oysters, and a bonus 7-inch by The Lemonheads. Gang Green’s Another Wasted Night spawned three videos that received MTV play, and their non-stop tour propelled their release to upwards of 30,000 units. The label achieved wide airplay on college radio stations with releases from The Lemonheads and Bullet LaVolta. Taang! went on to sign more diverse acts such as Poison Idea, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Swirlies and Spacemen 3.

In 1992, Casella decided to produce the San Diego-based band Battalion of Saints for an archival release, not realizing the bandleader’s plan to reform the band. By this time, Casella was dividing his time between Los Angeles and Boston. The label operated out of Boston for two more years before Casella moved its headquarters to San Diego on Mission Beach. A Taang! Store opened in Hollywood. Shortly after moving to San Diego, Taang! released two albums by local ska band Buck-O-Nine and put them on tour with Stiff Little Fingers.

1994 to 2000.

In the middle to late 1990s, there were no new signings as the label focused mainly on archival releases by bands such as Cock Sparrer, The Adicts, The Business, The Exploited, THE 4 SKINS

The Boys, Last Resort, The Ruts & Slaughter & The Dogs for a total of 15 releases over five years.

2001 to 2006

While operating out of California, the label continued its focus on Boston-based bands. Full catalogue releases from the PROLETARIAT, BRUISERS & The F.U.S. Bands such as Gang Green, Slapshot and Poison Idea, who previously left Taang! for other labels returned.

2007 to 2012

In 2007, the label started to sign more new bands, which included Everybody Out! (Featuring Rick Barton of Dropkick Murphys) Bill Close from The Freeze & Sweeney Todd from The Dead Pets as well as Southern California’s Evacuate (led by Mike Virus of Cheap Sex and The Virus), who released their debut in 2009. TAANG! Released a DVD from CHEAP SEX from San Diego.

The most recent addition to the label is NEGATIVE APPROACH. Marking the label’s 200th release is “Friends of No One,” (a lost six-song recording from 1984 that was discovered in 2009 in a basement in Detroit). Taang!’s next release was to be Nothing Will Stand In Our Way, a full album by the band, which focused on its earliest recordings (a total of 53 songs). In 2011 the label released 2 legendary bands from the San Francisco Bay area – Attitude Adjustment and Part Time Christians. Both releases contained the bands complete recorded works. Attitude Adjustment released a new recording entitled “No Way Back” in 2012. In 2012 SLAPSHOT and GANGGREEN recorded new songs and both bands released music digitally as well as vinyl editions.

2013 to present

In 2013, the label announced plans to release a series of more than 50 vinyl records from its catalogue over the span of four years. Titles include “Second Coming” from Battalion of Saints, “Cruising For A Bruising” from Bruisers, “Brotherhood” from D.Y.S., “Mob Mentality” from Dropkick Murphys, “Kill For Christ” from F.U.’s, “Another Wasted Night” from Gang Green, “Is This My World” from Jerry’s Kids, “Answer The Call” from Kilslug, “Hate Your Friends” from Lemonheads, “More Noise & Other Disturbances” from Mighty Mighty Bosstones, “Olde Tyme Hardcore” from Slapshot, and “Blondertongueaudiobaton” from Swirlies. The label also announced a series of DVDs to be released by Slapshot, Lemonheads, Kilslug, Oysters, and Gang Green.

In 2014

TAANG! has released a singles Box set containing the first 10  7inch 45’s  & also included is a cd vdersion of the 10 singles with detailed booklet & pictures from the TAANG! ACHIVES .

In 2013
GANGGREEN & SLAPSHOT have recorded new matierial
TAANG! #201 is the I Fear 7in Single from GANGGREEN the band is now based in Cinc. Ohio with Doherty fronting the line up with members of SLUGGO .

& will be heading to the West Coast in Febuary 2014

ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT have released an incredible release titled ”
“No Way Out”  CD .

NEGATIVE APPROACH “Nothing Will Stand In Our Way ” TAANG! #210 is a 53 song CD / LP which signifies the first of everything by N.A. First show First demo First Pictures. LP First pressing of the LP will be BLACK VINYL 500 ON RED &500 on GREEN VINYL.

The label will release one of the most important records in PUNK ROCK HISTORY .
